Bridging the Gap Between

Technical Skill & Tactical Execution

A New Standard

How do we define the art of coaching?

As former athletes become future coaches, it is imperative to establish an answer to this simple, yet thought-provoking question. Unfortunately, the reliance on previous background and personal skill set has left a void in the coaching arena. On paper, individuals all across the country present the ability to coach, but a small number possess the capability to fundamentally teach the game. At Indiana Elite, we utilize our teaching background to facilitate an environment that prioritizes each individual athlete, implementing our education-first approach. Through this methodology we can begin to bridge the gap between technical skill development and tactical skill execution, maximizing an athlete’s potential.

Transforming the Learning Experience

We believe every failure is an opportunity to learn.

Our job is to implement a curriculum that sparks the desire to learn and evolve as an athlete. We have taken our education background, combined with decades of volleyball experience, to create an atmosphere that encompasses all phases of the learning process. This particular process involves rethinking traditional approaches to education by implementing innovative strategies that engage athletes, promote deep understanding, and foster a passion for success.

The Indiana Elite gym facilitates a learner-centered approach, combined with active and experiential learning. We slowly begin to shift the focus from the coach as the sole provider of knowledge to the athlete as an active participant in their own learning journey. Through this process we can tailor instruction to encourage learner autonomy and promote critical thinking to construct an intrinsically motivated athlete.
